Ultrasound examinations abdominal cavity
Abdominal cavity ultrasound diagnoses the causes of acute and chronic abdominal diseases, as well as imaging the organs in relation to systemic diseases of the whole body. It is possible to evaluate the structure of internal organs for cancer prevention and monitoring of the treatment of such diseases. This examination is performed in the supine position . It is non-invasive and painless and should be included in our list of tests performed periodically.
What does an abdominal cavity ultrasound consist of?
Performing an abdominal cavity ultrasound is safe and non-invasive. It is based on directing a beam of ultrasound waves using an ultrasound machine. Then the waves, after bouncing off the tissues, return to the camera, which allows to generate an image displayed on the ultrasound screen. After the test, the patient receives a printed version of the test – the result of the examination with a description. Mostly, the abdominal examination does not take more than a quarter of an hour.
- Gallbladder and intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts
- pancreas
- Spleen and lymph nodes of the retroperitoneal region and hollow parenchymal organs
- kidneys, adrenal glands and urinary bladder
- gastrointestinal tract to the extent accessible by usg examination
- vascular system
- soft tissues of the shells
It is necessary to prepare very well for an abdominal cavity ultrasound examination. Otherwise the diagnostician will not be able to perform the examination correctly. The biggest problem for the diagnostician is gas lingering in the intestines. So, we recommend that before the examination the patient should be fasting-without food or drink-for 3 hours. For bladder imaging, we recommend that patients refrain from urinating before the test.
