Treatment of snoring
snoring treatment Warsaw
When you need snoring treatment?
It is estimated that in the group of 30-year-olds, 20% of men and 5% of women snore, but above the age of 60 the statistics increase to 60% and 40%, which is related to, among other things, a decrease in the elasticity of the soft tissues of the throat that worsens with age, obesity or the development of diseases that contribute to a decrease in muscle tone. About 40% of Poles suffer from sleep disorders such as snoring and apnea, which makes it difficult for them and those around them to rest.
As part of the treatment of snoring (snoring treatment Warsaw), we also allow you to rent a CPAP device, which normalizes breathing during sleep.
Causes of snoring:
- elongated soft palate and uvula
- disturbed airflow through the throat (hypertrophied tonsils, obesity)
- impaired nasal patency
- hypertrophy of the posterior part of the tongue
- Decreased tension of the tongue and throat muscles during sleep (alcohol, sleep medications)
- Age (with age, the elasticity of the throat walls decreases, obesity and diseases that reduce muscle tone appear)
What is the treatment of snoring ?
We offer our patients a complete diagnosis of sleep disorders and methods of effective treatment of snoring, including low-temperature bipolar thermotherapy and surgical methods.
Soft palate and uvula plasty - RaVor system
RaVor is a minimally invasive method of treating snoring and sleep apnea, which leads to a widening of the airway at the level of the throat and stiffening of its soft tissues. Treatment of snoring in this case involves inserting electrodes into the palate or nasal auricles and bringing about stimulation of the tissues with radiofrequency waves at a temperature of about 90-100ºC. The procedure results in scarring, which leads to stiffening of the palate and shrinking of the auricles. The procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The patient can function normally immediately after the procedure, takes pain medication and some dietary restrictions.
Throat and palate plasty
This is a procedure that involves shortening the uvula, soft palate and reducing the palatine tonsils. Partial removal of the tonsils increases the throat space. The placement of appropriate sutures (they do not need to be removed) stiffens the walls of the throat. The procedure reduces snoring and reduces the incidence of obstructive apnea during sleep. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient remains in the hospital until the next day.
Nasal septum surgery
Abnormal nasal patency is also a cause of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OBPS). The surgical technique used at Krajmed involves complete reconstruction of the crooked areas. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient remains in the hospital until the next day.
Conchoplasty (correction of the nasal conchae)
Nasal auricles are the lamellae that fill the nasal cavities. The air flowing between them is cleansed, humidified and heated. When the auricles are hypertrophied, they can block airflow, in which case they require surgical correction. The lower auricles can be corrected under local anesthesia, while the others are operated under anesthesia.
Polypectomy
Nasal polyps are intense swellings of the nasal mucosa, filling the sinuses and/or nasal cavities. They are not cancerous lesions, but by their presence they block the nose, so they must be removed. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and the patient remains in the hospital until the next day.
Overgrowth of the posterior part of the tongue
In these cases, the excessive tongue mass can be reduced surgically.
