Hyperbaric oxygen therapy aids in the treatment of infections and inflammation, and increases the activity of stem cells causing them to regenerate. One of the effects of reduced oxygen supply to tissues is the impairment of the activity of the immune system. When this happens, the patient is at risk of developing infections and inflammation. The reversal of these processes is directly proportional to the concentration of oxygen administered for respiration.
