What is sinusitis?
Sinusitis is inflammation of the lining of the sinuses, caused by bacterial, viral and other organisms, as well as by structural changes within the sinuses, including blocking vent of the sinus. If the vent of the sinus is obstructed for some reason, the natural process of cleansing the sinuses of mucus is disturbed – it leads to infection, resulting in inflammation of the sinus.
What are the varieties of sinusitis?
There are two main forms of sinusitis: acute and chronic. Sinusitis is usually preceded by a cold, allergy associated with hay fever or irritation by environmental pollutants. Often produces symptoms such as tightness in the vicinity of the nose, nasal blockage or excessive mucus, so. “Runny nose,” and fever. These symptoms usually do not last longer than a few days.
